Quick Spaghetti & Meatballs

Updated: Jan 22, 2019

Use pantry staples to make this weeknight dinner.

Using Barilla's #Prontopasta makes this meal come together in a large skillet! No need to cook the pasta first; it's specially made so that it doesn't have loads of starch. Enjoy this weeknight meal easily with some frozen, pre-cooked meatballs.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg Barilla pronto pasta

  • 3 cups water

  • 1/2 cup white wine

  • Bay leaf

  • 2 tsp dried oregano

  • 2 tsp Montreal chicken seasoning

  • 1-2 tsp basil, dried

  • 1-2 tsp garlic powder

  • tt salt and pepper

  • 24 oz precooked frozen beef or turkey meatballs

  • 24 oz jar of tomato sauce (I used Red Pepper Parmesan)

  • 15 oz can stewed tomatoes, chopped

Garnish:

  • Parmesan

  • fresh basil

Instructions

Read Susie's Tips and Tricks below

1. This pasta cooks with 3 cups water, 1/2 cup white wine, bay leaf, sprinkling of oregano, Montreal seasoning, basil and garlic powder, salt and pepper; boil 10 mins.

2. Add meatballs, simmer 4 minutes (no draining, water will cook in). Now add jar of tomato sauce and stewed tomatoes (chopped). Simmer until the meatballs are warmed through.

3. Sprinkle with fresh Parmesan and fresh basil.

Susie's Tips and Tricks

Pronto pasta is a specially made pasta that can be cooked with the sauce (this will not work with traditional pastas). It doesn't produce a bunch of starch and thus works beautifully for quick, easy meals.

Frozen meatballs are a great weeknight addition to lots of meals. I always keep a package on hand.
