Apple Cinnamon Oat Bread—Machine Made

Updated: Aug 3

A lovely soft apple flavored bread. Let the machine do all the work or add a little chopped apple raisin swirl and bake on the oven. 1 1/2 lb loaf

Ingredients

1/3 cup warm water

2/3 cup apple juice, warm

3 tbsp honey

2 tbsp neutral oil

1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce

3 cups bread flour

1/3 cup regular or quick cook oats

1/4 cup oat bran

1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

2 1/4 tsp instant yeast

Instructions

  1. Place ingredients in order as recommended by your bread machine. Use Basic setting or use Dough setting if making a swirl.

  2. Once the ball has begun to form; check the texture--it should be smooth not sticky. If it's very wet add a tbsp of flour and see if it begins to shape nicely. If it's dry add a tsp of water. Your dough ball should move evenly around the pan. If it knocks around--add a tsp of liquid.

  3. If you use the machine. Let it continue and remove pan once it is complete. Let sit 5 minutes and remove from pan. Place on a wire rack to cool.

If you are making a swirl; finely chop a small peeled apple, add a tbsp of honey, and a tsp of cinnamon. Blend this all together AFTER you have rolled the dough out after the first rise.

Place in a lightly greased loaf pan and bake at 350F for 30-40 minutes. If the loaf is getting a very dark crust be sure and cover with some foil while it finishes baking. You can check the temperature with a thermometer; you are looking for 195F.

Next time I'd use dehydrated apple.

You can omit the oat bran and use flour if desired.
